HYPERBARIC CHAMBER IN CAMBRIDGE

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a non-invasive medical treatment that involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized environment.

At our practice, we offer HBOT because it's gained recognition for its therapeutic benefits across various medical conditions.

This therapy is administered in our hyperbaric chamber in Cambridge. The increased pressure allows oxygen to dissolve into the bloodstream at higher concentrations, promoting healing and tissue regeneration.

HBOT enhances the body's natural healing processes. Book a session and experience it for yourself.

How long does a hyperbaric oxygen therapy session last, and how many sessions are needed?

Session durations and the number of sessions required at our Cambridge hyperbaric chamber can vary depending on your condition and treatment goals.

Typically, sessions last around 90 minutes. A series of treatments may be recommended for optimal results.

Some conditions respond quickly with just a few sessions. Others need ongoing treatment over weeks or months. We'll talk you through what makes sense for your particular situation after your initial assessment.

What can I expect during a hyperbaric oxygen therapy session?

During an HBOT session, you'll enter a pressurized chamber, where you'll breathe pure oxygen through a mask or hood.
The chamber's pressure will gradually increase to the prescribed level. You'll remain inside for the duration of the treatment, typically relaxing or watching TV.

Most people find it comfortable. Some patients from Hamilton tell us they use the time to catch up on shows or just rest.

The pressure increase can feel a bit like being in an airplane during takeoff. Your ears might pop. We'll teach you techniques to equalize the pressure and make it more comfortable.

Are there any side effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy?

HBOT is generally well-tolerated, but some individuals may experience temporary side effects such as ear discomfort, sinus pressure, or mild fatigue.

These usually clear up quickly after the session ends.

Serious complications are rare but can include oxygen toxicity, barotrauma, or changes in vision. We monitor you throughout the treatment and take precautions to minimize these risks.

If you have a cold or sinus infection, let us know before your session. Congestion can make it harder to equalize pressure and increase the risk of ear discomfort.

Book a consultation at our Cambridge practice. We'll discuss your health concerns, explain how HBOT might help your specific condition, and answer any questions you have about the treatment.

Not everyone is a good candidate for HBOT. We'll be honest about whether it's likely to benefit you or whether other treatments would work better.
